Portrait of Rachid Al- Gannouchi, the biggest threat to the future of Tunisia

EFD Senior Fellow Valentina Colombo writes about the latest Ennahdha Congress, where the slogan of the event read: "Abandonment of political Islam and separation between politics and the practice of preaching".

It's difficult to believe in the separation between the political and the religious side when it comes to the Ennahdha party, says Dr. Colombo, since Ghannouchi himself has claimed that the Tunisian government should "clean" its mosques from the Salafists instead of urging imams linked to the Muslim Brotherhood to leave.

Only time will tell if Ghannouchi is really seeking a substantial change, claims Dr. Colombo.
