Drivers and catalysts of radicalisation in Europe: the role that non-violent extremist groups play in radicalising and recruiting young people to fight for terrorist groups

On Wednesday 29th November, the European Foundation for Democrary organised a lunch briefing on the ‘Drivers and catalysts of radicalisation in Europe: the role that non-violent extremist groups play in radicalising and recruiting young people to fight for terrorist groups’'.

Dr Richard Burchill, director of research at TRENDS Research & Advisory and Dr Magnus Norell, Associate Director of Studies in Terrorism, Organised Crime and Middle East Politics at Infosphere in Stockholm, Adjunct Scholar at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy in Washington D.C, led the conversation.

The discussion focussed on the drivers and catalysts of radicalisation in Europe and was an opportunity to hear more about reports that have been published in four member states - Austria, Belgium, Sweden and the UK - on the role that so-called non-violent, extremist organisations can play in radicalising and recruiting young people to fight for terrorist organisations.
