“Faith Without Fair” screening, Muslim Educational Centre of Oxford

As part of her European tour, EFD senior fellow Irshad Manji  screened her Emmy-nominated documentary, which chronicles her journey to reconcile Islam and freedom. Hosted by the Muslim Educational Centre of Oxford, she prefaced the film by explaining the moral, spiritual and political struggles involved in making it. After the screening, Manji took questions from Muslims and non-Muslims in the audience, fielding such queries as “Why did you go to an obscure country like Yemen” to “How can we in the peace movement support your efforts” to “Would you agree to speak at the Aga Khan University in Britain as well as Pakistan?” The night ended with a  handshake between Manji and a young Muslim man who admits to being skeptical, but left the event affirmed in his faith — and hers.
