IPI World Congress 2017: Preventing Radicalisation – Empowering Alternative Voices
Effective counter-terrorism strategies require the participation of a broad range of actors, including civil society. At the core of such strategies is the notion that prevention of radicalisation is one of the key priorities and that effective groups and individuals need to be supported and empowered with a view to building resilience within relevant communities. The panel examined the current challenges in empowering alternative voices across Europe and offered first-hand experience in working on the ground, both at grassroots level and with policy makers.
This panel took place at IPI World Congress 2017 in Hamburg and was organised in partnership with the European Foundation for Democracy.
Guest speakers included: Elmar Theveßen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief at ZDF German Television; EFD President Roberta Bonazzi; EFD Fellow Researcher Tehmina Kazi; and Andreas Sugar, from International Media Support.
