Refugees in Europe: review of integration practices and policies

01.06.2018

On Friday 1 June 2018, Roberta Bonazzi, President of the European Foundation for Democracy, together with EFD Programme Manager Tommaso Virgili, will present the findings of their recently completed study titled: "Refugees in Europe: review of integration practices and policies". The study examined how different European countries with high numbers of refugees and/or experience of integrating high numbers of refugees (Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands and France) are managing the integration process. The research also identifies good practices for integrating refugees in these countries that might be recommended and replicated in other member states, as well as other practices to amend.

The research was based around interviews with government officials, academics, NGOs and practitioners, including front-line professionals who work directly with refugees, employer federations and other representative organisations, as well as refugees and asylum seekers themselves. Primarily the research analyzed the situation of Syrian refugees in Europe, though not exclusively.

The event will be held in IES-VUB (floor -1), between 13:00-14:00 and a light lunch will be provided.
