US-EU Relations: Common Foreign Policy and Security Challenges – A Discussion with Senator Joe Lieberman
On Thursday 29th of June 2017, the European Foundation for Democracy and the Counter Extremism Project organised a discussion with the Senator Joseph Lieberman in Brussels.
Senator Lieberman is a former member of the U.S. Senate from Connecticut. Serving for 24 years, Senator Lieberman was Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and a senior member of the Armed Services Committee. In 2000, he was the Democratic candidate for Vice President of the United States. He was recently among the candidates being considered to head the FBI and is currently a contender for other posts in the Administration. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Counter Extremism Project.
Roberta Bonazzi, the President of the European Foundation for Democracy, moderated the discussion. Her expertise focuses on prevention and counter radicalisation, foreign policy, democratic reforms and terrorism more broadly.
