Young muslims in danger? Salafism in Germany

Pluralist societies and democratic states cannot allow young people to be indoctrinated by extremists. In common with youths of other backgrounds, young Muslims are threatened by religiously motivated extremism, with Salafists in Germany attempting to propagate their political ideology as "true Islam".

The European Foundation for Democracy and the Network for a New European Generation are disturbed by the growing influence of Salafists in Germany and are committed to countering their extremist propaganda. On 3rd November, we brought together German and European experts at a conference entitled "Young Muslims in Danger? Salafism in Germany" to educate and inform policymakers and thought leaders on these disturbing trends.
