Brussels attacks: Belgian authorities under fire for security failures

25 March 2016

EFD Senior Policy Advisor Dr. Murat Seyrek is quoted in an article in Parliament Magazine on 22 March attacks in Brussels, in which he discusses the numerous security failures which led to the attacks. "Our security and intelligence services are not designed in line with reality," said Dr. Seyrek. He also suggests that "coordination and cooperation are at minimum level and they still work as they would do in a traditional nation state structure. That's why we need to address this issue urgently. We need mechanisms and structures to share intelligence across the EU and beyond."
