Alfano’s manoeuvre “transparency for mosques” divides the Italian Sunni community

The Italian Minister of Interior Angelino Alfano is backing a proposal to guarantee that only certified imams will be able to preach in Italian mosques. However, this proposal was not well accepted by the Muslim community on the web. EFD Senior Fellow Valentina Colombo comments on this latest issue: "Translating sermons into Italian is not enough; we must verify that the content of what is discussed in Muslim centres is in line with our values"
