Brussels attacks: The tough questions facing the Belgian authorities in the wake of the bombing

EFD Senior Policy Advisor Dr. Murat Seyrek is quoted in The Telegraph for his expertise, in light of the attacks in Brussels on 22 March, on the apparent failures of Belgian and EU authorities. Dr. Seyrek highlights that "there is certainly an intelligence failure and Belgian authorities have already recognized this issue. Lack of mechanisms and structures to share intelligence is the main problem. Moreover, there's a fundamental issue specific to the EU. There are open borders and free movement is one of the fundamental principles of the EU. However our security and intelligence services are not designed in line with this reality."
