I will explain why I left the Muslim Brotherhood

21 January 2016

EFD Senior Fellow Valentina Colombo conducts an interview with Mohamed Louizi, author of the book "Pourquoi j'ai quitté les Frères Musulmans" ("Why did I leave the Muslim Brotherhood").

In the interview, Louizi talks about the structure, ideology and goals of the Muslim Brotherhood, warning against the radical discourse that the Brotherhood powerfully promotes through a widespread network of organisations in Europe.

To counter this threat, Louizi suggests that European states should closely monitor the flow of money directed towards Islamist organisations. European states should also avoid granting them public aid (as often happens) and, in the more serious cases, dismantle them in order to protect vulnerable people from their radical discourse and behaviour. Furthermore, a blacklist should be drafted to prevent those international Muslim Brotherhood leaders who are well known for promoting jihad and misogyny from acting and residing in European states.
