12 July 2015

EFD Senior Fellow Valentina Colombo comments on the recent blast that severely damaged the Italian consulate in Cairo, Egypt. “The Egyptian press’ version, that explains the attack by citing its proximity to the High Court of Cassation, is plausible”, she says. She adds that another explanation could be, “the presence of the judge Ahmad El Fuddaly in the building facing the consulate”. In any case, she concludes, this shows that “political Islam, represented by the Muslim Brotherhood, is not the cure for the terrorism”.
