Muslims have no answers to radicalisation

10 January 2015

The day after the Charlie Hebdo attack in Paris, EFD Programme Director Ahmad Mansour is interviewed in Switzerland's Berner Zeitung on the challenges we face regarding Islamic radicalisation. Ahmad calls for critique not of Islam, but of elements of the religion which are problematic such as the concept of a vengeful God and the tabooisation of sexuality. He states that, too often, mainstream debates on Islam and radicalisation either trivialise the problem or they exaggerate it, as Germany has seen with the Pegida demonstrations. He calls for focussed and nuanced responses to the issue.
