Time for a new asylum policy after Cologne?

17 January 2016

EFD Programme Director Ahmad Mansour is a guest on German television talk show Anne Will, where he discusses recent calls in Germany for a new asylum policy after the New Year’s Eve incidents in Cologne.

Mansour explaines that parallel societies - the notion of a group of people who are insufficiently integrated into mainstream society - are a problem that has existed long before the attacks that took place in Cologne and other European cities. He examines the tabooing of sexuality within these parallel societies and explaines how this leads to an increased likelihood for violence.

The other guests are:

Gesine Schwan, Political scientist
Peter Altmaier, Head of the German chancellory (CDU)
Stefan Aust, Editor-in-chief of Welt24

The talk show is in German and can be watched here.
